IT/WEB — Websites
A website that loads fast and doesn't need babysitting.
Most small business sites are slower than they need to be, cost more to run than they should, and carry a maintenance obligation nobody explained at the start. None of that is inherent — it comes from building a brochure on a platform designed for something else.
APP/ — How we build
Static first, for specific reasons.
Your pages are compiled to plain HTML ahead of time and served as files. There is no database behind the request, no application runtime in the path, and nothing to exploit at page load.
The consequences are practical rather than ideological: it is fast on a phone on mobile data, it costs very little to host, it does not get compromised through a plugin, and it does not fall over on the one day your site is mentioned somewhere popular.
This site is built the same way, which makes it easy to check the claim.
What that gets you
- Sub-second loads on a phone, which is where most of your visitors are
- No plugin treadmill — nothing to patch weekly to stay safe
- Cheap, boring hosting that does not need babysitting
- Nothing to breach — no database, no admin login, no upload directory
- It survives traffic — static files do not care how many people arrive at once
SCP/ — What's included
The whole thing, not just the pages.
HON/ — Choosing honestly
When static is right, and when it isn't.
Static suits you if
- The site is mainly informational — what you do, for whom, how to reach you
- Content changes occasionally rather than daily
- You want it fast and cheap to run, with minimal ongoing obligation
- You would rather not think about security patches for a brochure site
You need something else if
- You are selling online at any real volume — use Shopify
- You need user accounts, bookings or a portal — that is an application, see product engineering
- Non-technical staff publish several times a week and want full layout control
- You have hundreds of pages managed by a content team
We will tell you which of these you are before quoting, including when the answer is that a website builder you operate yourself would serve you perfectly well and cost you almost nothing.
FAQ/ — Common questions
Questions we get asked.
Will we be able to edit the site ourselves?
That is the question that decides the whole build, so we ask it first. If you need to change content weekly, we add an editing layer so you can — a content management system your team logs into, with the site still compiled to static files. If the site changes twice a year, an email to us is genuinely cheaper and simpler than maintaining an admin panel you use rarely and forget how to use.
Why not WordPress?
Sometimes WordPress is right, and we will say so. But it brings a permanent obligation: core, theme and plugin updates, forever, because an unpatched WordPress site gets compromised. That is a real ongoing cost, and for a site that is essentially a brochure it buys you very little. A static site has no database to breach, no plugins to patch and no admin login to brute-force.
Do you do e-commerce?
Not full storefronts — payments, inventory, tax and fulfilment are a specialist domain and Shopify does it better than a custom build for almost every small business. What we do is the surrounding work: the site itself, integrations into your other systems, and making the whole thing fast and secure.
Can you fix the site we already have?
Often, yes. The common jobs are performance (usually oversized images and too much JavaScript), broken email deliverability, missing HTTPS, an out-of-date CMS, or a hosting arrangement nobody can log into any more. A short review will tell you whether fixing beats rebuilding — sometimes it does.
Do you do design, or only build?
We design and build. The design will be clean, fast and legible rather than fashionable — that is an honest description of the range, not modesty. If you need distinctive brand-led art direction, hire a designer for that part and we will build exactly what they give us.
Who owns the site and the accounts?
You do — domain, hosting, analytics, source code, all registered to your business and handed over. We have seen too many businesses discover their domain is registered to a former web developer who has stopped replying. That will not happen here.
